Due to the increasing impact of extreme weather caused by global warming and recent issues related to energy and climate change, Foresee Pharmaceuticals is addressing the effects of climate change on its operations. Starting in 2023, we follow the framework recommended by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), which includes Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Metrics and Targets. Our Sustainable Development Group identifies climate-related risks and opportunities, formulates corresponding strategies, and reports to the Board of Directors annually. The Board monitors the effectiveness of these strategies.

Our Key Focuses

Greenhouse Gas Status

Foresee Pharmaceuticals is not classified as a high carbon-intensive industry. Foresee has gradually implemented greenhouse gas inventories, established management strategies and carbon reduction targets, and continuously monitored domestic and international regulatory trends to prepare for potential risks. Foresee's greenhouse gas emissions primarily come from energy use during operations, mainly from electricity and air conditioning-related (fugitive) emissions. In 2023, greenhouse gas emissions rose due to expanding R&D labs and offices. We aim for a 10% reduction in per capita emissions by 2028 compared to 2023. Our strategies include using the SIF platform to reduce patient visits and transportation emissions, along with ongoing process optimization and improved product energy efficiency. In the R&D laboratory established in 2023, over NT$2,132,000 was invested in procurement related to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly green certifications. Specific measures include procuring energy-efficient certified products and equipment with high performance, such as air conditioners, IT devices, LED lighting and green building materials, and regularly maintaining and updating them to sustain energy efficiency.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions (CO2e) 2022 2023
Scope 1 (Note) 1.886 1.886
Scope 2 (Note) 122.324 229.931
Total Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Co2e Tons) 124.210 231.817
Annual Revenue (In millions of New Taiwan Dollars) 301.506 195.038
Carbon Emission Intensity 0.411 1.189
Note:Scope emissions data is based on Taiwan operations.
Note:Greenhouse gas inventory follows the Ministry of Environment’s “Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Emission Measuring” and has not undergone third-party verification. Scope 1 inchudes fugitive emissions; Scope 2 covers purchased electricity.
Note:Electricity emission factors are based on the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ annual coeficients, with 2022/2023 factors at 0.495/0.494 kg CO2e/kWh.
Note:CO2e emission factors are derived from the Global Warming Potential (GWP) ratios, primarily based on the Ministry of Environment’s “Greenhouse Gas Emission Coefficients Management Table 6.0.4 Edition.”

Laboratory Waste Management

Foresee Pharmaceuticals’ R&D Site, located in the National Biotechnology Research Park, is primarily responsible for early-stage fundamental research and does not have facilities that discharge large amounts of wastewater, waste, or greenhouse gases. The operation and management of chemical raw materials and toxic substances used in R&D, as well as waste generated from chemical and cell experiments in the laboratory, comply with government environmental regulations. Waste is regularly handled by qualified contractors and reported to the Department of Environmental Protection.

Short-term Goals

  • Continuously monitor and manage waste generation.
  • Develop a "Waste Management Procedure Manual".

Mid- to Long-term Goals

  • Implement the “Waste Management Procedure Manual” for effective waste classification, collection, management, and disposal.
  • Use ISO 14001 standards as environmental assessment criteria to achieve sustainability goals.

2023 Resource Investment

  • Sign waste removal and treatment contracts with authorized public and private waste disposal providers to effectively manage waste and accurately record total waste amounts.

Evaluation Mechanisms/Results

  • To date, there have been no violations of environmental regulations. The Company will continue to monitor and track waste treatment weights moving forward.
